X_Factor Exporter is a tool that extracts only a subset of the collected data that is meaningful to virtualization planning. This tool saves you time and eliminates any errors you might make when extracting data manually. The extraction creates an XML document that is formatted to be compatible with the X-Factor modeling application. Exporter should have been downloaded as part of the CollectorX download process. If Exporter is not on your PC, please login, click on Downloads and then download and run X-Factor Exporter.
Using X_Factor Exporter
To activate click on the X_Factor Exporter icon on your desktop. The panel below will be displayed.

Starting at the top of the panel you have three file related options.
- "Data Connection File": This is the file where your scans were saved.
- "Config File": This is the name of the export file.
- "Output Directory": This is the name of the folder where you want to save the export file.
On the bottom half of the panel you have several selectable options that refine the export process.
- "Servers" or "Workstations": This option assumes that you collected data on both servers and workstations and allows you to group the export by class of device. Typically, when doing a virtualization plan, you would model servers and workstations separately. Simply click on which class of device you want to export data on.
- If you decide to export data on both classes then click on both. To clear a selection, just click on it again and the check mark will go away.

- "Database Connection": The displayed database is the default. If your data collection was saved on a different database then click on "Edit" and specify the desired database connection, credentials (if required) and the database name.
- "Available Runs": If you have done more than one scan, you may select which scan to export data from. Each scan has a sequential number with the highest number equaling the last (most current) scan.
- "Query Timeout": This is a default value and should not need to be changed unless the response time from your database is slow. If you receive timeouts after clicking on "Export" , increase this value until the timeouts stop. You can do this by either clicking on the up or down arrows to change the value by one (1) or you can highlight the value and enter a new one.
Click on "Export" to start the process. Once done you will be notified that the export process is complete.
